Cookies
Cookies can be used on our website in various ways. This depends on different parameters, e.g., whether you have given us your consent to use individual cookies or which pages and functions you want to use on our website. Cookies are small text files that allow the recognition of the user and an analysis of your use of our websites. The information generated is transmitted to the provider’s server and stored there. They serve to make our website more user-friendly, effective, and secure. In addition, cookies are used to measure the frequency of page views and for general navigation.
For these functions, we also use third-party providers who are contractually obligated to take measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of the processed data. However, we point out that it is possible that data may be transmitted to providers located outside the European Economic Area, where a lower level of protection applies than in the EU. Transmission only occurs if you have given your consent in the cookie banner.
Social Media
Our website uses so-called social plugins (“plugins”) of the social networks Facebook and the microblogging services Twitter. These services are provided by the companies Facebook Inc., Google Inc., Instagram, Pinterest, and Twitter Inc. (“providers”).
Facebook is operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA (“Facebook”). An overview of Facebook plugins, their appearance, and data usage can be found here: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins
Twitter is operated by Twitter Inc., 1355 Market St, Suite 900, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA (“Twitter”). An overview of Twitter buttons, their appearance, and data usage can be found here: https://twitter.com/de/privacy
Pinterest is operated by Pinterest Inc., 651 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. An overview of Pinterest buttons, their appearance, and data usage can be found here: https://policy.pinterest.com/de/privacy-policy
Instagram is operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Limited, 4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland. Overview of Instagram buttons, their appearance, and data usage can be found here: https://privacycenter.instagram.com/policy/?entry_point=ig_help_center_data_policy_ redirect
When you visit a page of our website containing such a plugin, your browser establishes a direct connection to the servers of Facebook, Google, or Twitter. The content of the plugin is transmitted directly from the respective provider to your browser and embedded in the page. By embedding the plugins, the providers receive the information that your browser has accessed the corresponding page of our website, even if you do not have a profile or are not logged in. This information (including your IP address) is transmitted directly by your browser to a server of the respective provider in the USA and stored there. You thus agree that data for statistical analyses and direct marketing may be transmitted to third-party providers (including the USA and possibly other countries), where authorities may have easier access to these data and where a lower level of protection applies than in the EU.
If you are logged in to one of the services, the providers can immediately assign your visit to our website to your Facebook or Twitter profile. If you interact with the plugins, for example by clicking the “Like”, “+1”, or “Tweet” button, this information is also transmitted directly to a server of the providers and stored there.
The information is also published on the social network or your Twitter account and shown to your contacts. The purpose and scope of data collection and further processing and use of the data by the providers, as well as your rights and settings options to protect your privacy, can be found in the privacy notices of the providers.

Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=de
Twitter Privacy Policy: https://twitter.com/privacy
If you do not want Google, Facebook, or Twitter to immediately assign the data collected through our website to your profile on the respective service, you must log out of the respective service before visiting our website. You can also completely prevent the loading of the plugins using browser add-ons.
No data will be transmitted to these providers if you do not consent to their use in the cookie banner.
Google Analytics
Analytics uses so-called “cookies”, text files stored on your computer that allow an analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about your use of this website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.
If IP anonymization is activated on this website, your IP address will be shortened by Google within member states of the European Union or in other parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. On behalf of the operator of this website, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the website, to compile reports on website activity, and to provide other services related to website and internet usage to the website operator.
The IP address transmitted by your browser within Google Analytics will not be merged with other Google data. You can prevent the storage of cookies through the corresponding settings of your browser software; however, we point out that in this case you may not be able to use all the functions of this website fully. You can also prevent the collection of data generated by the cookie and related to your use of the website (including your IP address) by Google, as well as the processing of this data by Google, by downloading and installing the browser plugin available at the following link.
Use of Retargeting Functions
Placement of Interest-Based Advertising Using “Retargeting”
This website uses so-called “retargeting tags.” A “retargeting tag” is a JavaScript element placed in the source code of the website. If a user visits a page on this website containing a “retargeting tag”, an online advertising provider (e.g., Google) places a cookie on the user’s computer and assigns it to the corresponding retargeting audience lists. This cookie is then used to run retargeting campaigns (“interest-based advertising”) on other websites. Studies have shown that displaying interest-based ads is more relevant to internet users than ads that have no direct relation to interests or previously visited websites.
Settings and Opt-Out Options
Third-party providers, including Google, use these cookies to display ads based on previous visits of a user to our website. Users of this website can deactivate the use of cookies by Google by visiting the “Google Ads Settings” page. Users can also deactivate the use of cookies by third-party providers by visiting the “Network Advertising Initiative” opt-out page and adjusting the settings there.
– Google Ads Settings
– Settings and opt-out options of the “Network Advertising Initiative” Facebook Pixel. On our pages, remarketing tags of the social network Facebook, 1601 South California Avenue, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA, are integrated. When you visit our pages, a direct connection is established between your browser and the Facebook server via the remarketing tags. Facebook receives information that you visited our site with your IP address. This allows Facebook to assign the visit to your user account. The information obtained can be used by us to display Facebook Ads. We point out that as the provider of the pages, we do not have knowledge of the content of the transmitted data or their use by Facebook. Further information can be found in Facebook’s privacy statement at https://www.facebook.com/about/privacy/. If you do not wish data collection via Custom Audience, you can deactivate Custom Audiences here. No data will be transmitted to these providers if you do not consent in the cookie banner.
